Medium: Charcoal and white chalk on tan paper.

Object Type:Drawing

Description:These two studies of a left hand are almost certainly linked to the recently discovered archive of drawings dating mainly from Wright's period of training in Hudson's studio in the 1750s. As the study shows two left hands, (most probably the same hand drawn twice), and one is shown holding a 'stump' (a roll of paper, used by artists for blurring drawn lines in chalk and charcoal to obtain graduations of tone) could these be studies of the young artist's own left hand?
