Description:The Raphael tapestry cartoons are in the Royal Collection, and have been on loan to the V&A since 1865. Subject identified by Dr Paul Joannides, of the University of Cambridge Department of History of Art, in September 1999. The hand at the bottom of the sheet would appear to have been taken from right hand of the figure on the left (foreground), with arms outstretched. In the case of this study it has been rotated 90 degrees and appears upturned.
