Inscribed on recto, along pedestal base (handwritten in pencil): 'French Academy May 8th 74' and to top left (handwritten in ink): '20'. Made by Joseph Wright (1734-1797), 1774. Pencil and charcoal on laid paper, toned with green wash. Displayed in a cream window mount.
