Drawing of a nude male figure, standing, identified as a study of the Roman marble sculpture known as the 'Belvedere Hermes' in the Museo Pio-Clementino (part of the Vatican Collections), Rome. The figure is almost full length and turns slightly to the left with his hips pushed forward. Both his right arm and left hand are missing. A piece of cloth is draped on his left shoulder and over his left forearm. Inscribed on recto, lower left (handwritten in ink): 'Pope's Museum May 16 - 75' and to lower right (handwritten in ink): '18'. The sheet has been trimmed along the top and bottom. Made by Joseph Wright of Derby (1734 - 1797), 1775. Pen and ink over pencil on light blue paper. Displayed within a cream window mount.
