Studies of a Gentleman three-quarter standing, a hand and a Cravat(?), studio of Allan Ramsey, unknown artist believed to be Joseph van Aken. Black and white chalk on blue paper. 1996-1/85 in the first Wright Archive is an offprint, or Impression of this drawing. The drawing is very similar to Allan Ramsay's portrait of the Hon. John Bulkeley Coventry, 1740, (collection Earl of Coventry). This impression was instrumental in obtaining funding for the Archive to be purchased, as it proved that the two Archives were at one time linked. It shows that this drawing and 1996-1/85 had been stored together for some considerable time to allow the 'imprint' to have been made.
