Drawing of a nude male figure with an eagle, identified as a study of a cast of a Roman sculpture known as 'Ganymede with the Eagle', in The Uffizi, Florence. Ganymede is standing with his left hand on the eagle, in his right hand a fragment of a shepherd's crook. Inscribed on recto, along pedestal base (handwritten in pencil): 'F. Academy Rome April 18 - 74' and to top right (handwritten in ink): '43'. Made by Joseph Wright of Derby (1734-1797), 1774. Pencil and charcoal on laid paper. Displayed in a cream window mount.
