His left hand holds a long drape of silk to his chest, which twists around his torso and falls over his right shoulder to his knee. he wears a sword at his side. The outline of a drape is visible to his right. Inscribed to lower right, 'Brown & Blew'. Made by Joseph Wright of Derby (1734 - 1797). Black and white chalk on blue paper, in cream window mount.
