Verso: Study of a woman, head and torso only, in a feigned oval, her body facing forward, her head turned slightly to the right; wearing a gown with a lace stomacher, a lace collar or cape, and slashed sleeves. She wears four strings of pearls around her neck, two with drop pearl pendants at their centre, and a drop pearl earring. Her hair is dressed with further strings of pearls. Made by Joseph Wright of Derby (1734 - 1797). Black and white chalk on blue paper, in cream window mount.
