Inscribed below, to the right: 'White & Blew' and along the top edge of the sheet: '[purple?] Velvet Straw-Coloured Waistcoat, silver laced Hat, ditto'. Brown staining to lower half of drawing. Made by Joseph Wright of Derby (1734 - 1797). Black and white chalk on blue paper, in cream window mount.
